Because all our West Country farmhouse cheeses have a real depth of flavour they aren’t easily smothered and go well with a wide range of accompaniments
For simple satisfaction try red or white grapes or slices of pear and apple of course. Feeling more adventurous try fresh figs or dates? Feeling really fruity then we recommend pickled plums and glacé fruits in a mustard syrup.
A stick of crunchy celery, a vine-ripened tomato seasoned with sea salt or some pickled shallots also complement our cheeses wonderfully.
Fancy a relaxed supper then add a generous dollop of traditional fruity chutney, some Denhay air-dried ham and a crusty loaf. Speciality breads such as fennel and raisin are delicious with our cheeses as are a range of speciality cheese biscuits.
After last years washout , the sun shone brightly on The Countess of Wessex as she attended the PDO lunch and presented Parkham farms with cups for both the reserve champion cheese and best PDO West Country Farmhouse cheddar. The show was a triumph for our other farmhouse cheesemakers too with a total of 40 medals and 7 special awards, just rewards for all the care and craftsmanship that goes into all our handmade cheeses.
